3 Signs You’re Doing Better Than You Think in Life

Sometimes we all have a feeling of failure.  Perhaps you’ve seen too many Facebook pictures of  friends in exotic places and feel like you need some excitement in your life or you are simply feeling a little bit defeated right now.

Think about Thomas Edison, one of the greatest inventors in American history, who once said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” It’s this optimism that kept him going until he found his way.  So, today it’s time to remind yourself about the good things in your life. Here are 3 signs you’re doing better than you think:

You have a roof over your head

Covering our most basic needs of food and shelter is something we in the Western world take for granted.  Having a warm dry place to live is considered a luxury in many places around the world. According to the United Nations 1.6 Billion people globally lack adequate housing.  Take a moment to be thankful for the simple luxury of your home.

You have people who care

Many times we overlook the people who have supported us throughout our lives whether they are friends, family or mentors.  These are the people who have continuously been there for us when we’ve needed them.  Take the time to call one of them today and let them know how you feel and that you’re thankful they’ve been apart of your life.  Remember to appreciate and strengthen these relationships.  These people are there for you!

You have dreams

We are lucky to have dreams and goals, something to look forward to and work towards.  In some ways it’s a luxury.  Whether you’re dreaming of writing a novel, finding your dream job or finding love, take time to appreciate the luxury of actually having a dream.  You don’t need to walk around all day looking for food and water, you’re free to dream, create and achieve.

It’s easy to get caught up in our day to day lives and always look forward towards our next task on our to-do list.  Remember that part of your to-do list should actually be to celebrate your successes.  By doing this you’ll cultivate a mindset of gratitude for all of the wonderful things you’ve already accomplished and have in your life.
